Is your treadmill belt feeling "sticky," smelling like hot rubber, or causing the motor to groan during your runs?

If you own a Sole F63, F80, F85, or S77, the single most important maintenance task you can perform is lubrication. Unlike some commercial brands that use "pre-waxed" decks, Sole treadmills require OEM Pure Silicone Fluid to reduce friction between the walking belt and the phenolic deck. Without it, the belt creates a massive amount of heat and static electricity, which will eventually "cook" your Motor Control Board (MCB) and strip the motor's brushes. Why Sole OEM Silicone?

Many "universal" lubricants found at hardware stores contain petroleum distillates, oils, or aerosols that will actually damage your treadmill.

How to Know When to Lubricate

You shouldn't wait for a squeak to lubricate. Follow the "Hand Test" every 3 months or 150 miles:

1. Reach your hand under the edge of the walking belt and touch the top of the wooden deck in the center.

2. Slippery/Oily? You’re good to go.

3. Dry/Rough? You need to lubricate immediately.

4. Waxy/Gummy? Your old lubricant has broken down and needs to be cleaned off before applying a fresh coat.

The 5-Minute Application Guide

1. Prep: Unplug the treadmill. Loosen the rear roller bolts about 10 turns on each side to create slack in the belt.

2. Apply: Squirt approximately 1 oz (30ml) of silicone in a "zigzag" or "S" pattern across the center of the deck, focusing on the area where your feet strike most often.

3. Spread: Tighten the belt back to its original tension. Plug the machine in and run it at 1.0 MPH for 3 minutes without walking on it to spread the fluid evenly.

4. Walk: Walk at a slow pace for another 2 minutes to ensure the silicone is pressed into the belt fibers.

Maintenance Schedule

• Light Use (1–2 days/week): Lubricate every 6 months.

• Medium Use (3–5 days/week): Lubricate every 3 months.

• Heavy Use (Daily/Multiple Users): Lubricate every 6–8 weeks.
